Computer Credentials

I graduated from high school in Startup, Washington, from Sky Valley Christian School in 1986 with a 4.0 GPA. I had only used a Compac computer a little bit between the early 1980's to the late 1980's. This was only used for game playing and nothing else.

Upon a spur of the moment decision, my husband and I bought our first computer in 1995. The computer was a 286 and we added a 14.4 modem and promptly got connected to the Internet. We both quickly became hooked on it and promptly upgraded to a much better system within the first two weeks. The new machine was built by AT & T and soon we learned why telephone manufacturers shouldn't be making computers! The parts in the computer didn't know that the other parts existed! Argh! It was terrible! AT & T finally gave us our money back and took the computer back, admitting it was not working like they had planned. After that we needed to get a new machine. This computer was built by a small local shop that soon went out of business, so I ended up doing all the technical support myself. I can truly relate with computer-induced-frustration! I am self-taught on the computer since 1995, but since I have also been my own technical support. I have learned a lot of information. I quickly discovered the Internet and Web Design. By reading many books I have learned more than many people get the opportunity to learn.

As my friends and family began sending their friends and family in my direction for help I began to encounter a wider variety of problems and challenges. I have learned to deal with many different problems including those of the people and those of the computer.

I was a student at Everett Community College working towards an ATA degree in Business Administration. Eventually, I hope to get a degree in Web Design. I have so many interests that I may try to get a degree for being a music teacher someday also.

Much of my experience comes from having a small wireless network which consists of a Windows 95, 2 Windows 98 SE, I Windows Xp Pro desktop and one Windows XP Home laptop. Between all of the individual problems on each of the machines, much is learned.

Photographic Credentials

I began taking photos for fun in the early 80's, but then began taking many more shots after receiving a Minolta XD-11 for my high school graduation. Due to the high costs of photographic supplies I did not do much until just within the past few years when I purchased a digital camera.

My recent images are taken with a Kodak DC4530 and in a 5 mega pixel resolution. At this point I am trying to get started in the business of selling prints, but so far have not found a way to begin this new venture. Now my Husband also has a digital camera and so we are able to go shooting together. It is a lot of fun and maybe some day it will be profitable too!

   This is my first award from Everett Community College 
where I have qualified for Phi Theta Kappa, but I
am undecided if I will join the society or not. 

This award was given to me in my Junior year in high school 1985.
Paces were the name of the workbooks we used as lesson books.
Sky Valley Christian School no longer exists in Startup, WA.
